Haven't you always absolutely loved zombies? Wait, let me start over. Don't you wish you could meet a zombie? Er, that is to say that we've all had fantasies about zombies . . . Okay, hold on, my point isn't really coming across well.
What I'm trying to say is this: the Zombies are coming, and we need to be prepared. If you're like me (the corporeal, fictional entity invented to personify this website), then you've done plenty of research into how, where, why, and when zombies could. Still, there's book learnin' and there's experiential learnin.' Knowing how zombies might act is one thing, but seeing for yourself is quite another.
What better way to examine the specifics of the zombie psyche than by becoming one?
No, I'm not asking you to take any experimental serums or perform any occult rituals (or deal with voodoo shamans in the Carribean). This is just a bunch of zombi-curious individuals gathering together to see what it would be like to be a horde. Sure, none of them (hopefully) will actually be zombies, but by acting like them for a few hours, you'll get the general idea of how they might behave.
Okay, so here's the scoop. The Coalition for Research into Avoiding Zombies, Yet Making Overt the Need for Knowledge for Everyone with Yearly Seminars is hosting a Zombie Behavioral and Organizational Research Gathering, or ZBORG. At a ZBORG, participants gather in a central location (in this case, the Union at Purdue University), and travel in a Zombie-like 'Horde' through a populated area (the Purdue Campus). By doing so, The CRAZY MONKEYS hopes to learn more about how such a 'Horde' would travel and interact with local landmarks. Such knowledge could prove crucial in dealing with a real 'Horde' should one ever come to pass.
If you're like me (the default personality your imagination automatically attaches to everything you read), you're more than excited to help improve humanity's knowledge of Zombie Defense. If humans continue toying with the fragile balance of nature, and upset that balance with their constant forays into realms of science that they know dangerously little about, zombies are the only possible outcome. Our only recourse is to prepare ourselves for that day when Dr. Shlomo Q. Scienstein unlocks the horrible, terrifying secret hidden in our DNA or something. This ZBORG is just what we need to get the leg up on the apocalyptic future!
Please, for the sake of your children and your children's nano-augmented, partially cyborg children, help The CRAZY MONKEYS do everything they can (with yearly seminars) to stop the inevitable Zombie Onslaught. Yes, we (well, not me, because I'm just some text on your computer screen) can make a difference! Join the CRAZY MONKEYS on October 31st at 2:30 PM at the Union South Entrance to participate!
Also, come to our Free Improv Comedy show Halloween night at 8:00 PM in Grey House Coffee Supply!
Also, also, look up the Crazy Monkey page on Facebook, and see our website at http://www.thecrazymonkeys.com!
Sincerely, The CRAZY MONKEYS
On October 31st, the Crazy Monkeys are hosting a Zombie walk across campus. It's just a bunch of students acting like zombies on Halloween. It will be totally harmless and hopefully a lot of fun.
Everyone should join us on our trip. The more people we have, the more fun it will be.
We're starting from the South entrance of the Union (the doors that face State Street, right outside where the giant 3d map is) at about 2:45. Try to get there around 2:30 so that we can make sure everyone knows what's happening.
You don't need to wear a zombie costume, or any costume at all, but a costume would certainly be more fun. All of the Crazy Monkeys are dressing up as all kinds of stuff, so just wear whatever costume you want!
The walk will go all over campus (see the Map section for details), until about 5:00, when we'll sort of dissolve into nothing. There's no reason for anybody to stay the whole time, so if you need to go somewhere else, you can feel free to break away. The "horde" can even walk you to class!
Also, if you can't make it by 2:45, you can join us anywhere along our path (see the Map section to find the best place to join in). If you want to make it interesting, email us (at email@thecrazymonkeys.com) and let us know if you want to meet at a specific place. We can have the "horde" "attack" "you" and "turn" you "into" one of us! . . . or something.
Please try to RSVP to email@thecrazymonkeys.com if you're interested in joining in (or join the facebook event on facebook!).
